Terms of use.

Last updated 20 May 2026

These terms cover what Don't Tax Our Future is, what you agree to when you submit a comment, how we moderate, and how to ask us to remove content.

What this site is

Don't Tax Our Future is a public information site about the proposed 2026/27 changes to Australia’s capital gains tax discount. It gives visitors a place to read about the issue and, if they choose, share their view on the record.

This is not a petition. Comments here aren’t signatures, and submitting one doesn’t commit you to anything beyond what you wrote. If a formal petition is later lodged with the Australian Parliament, we’ll contact only the people who opted in to be notified and confirmed their email address.

Comments published on this site are the personal views of the people who wrote them. They don’t represent Don't Tax Our Future or its operator, and publication doesn’t imply endorsement.

When you submit a comment

By submitting a comment, you confirm that:

  • The comment is your own view, in good faith.
  • It isn’t defamatory, threatening, harassing, or unlawful.
  • It doesn’t reveal anyone else’s personal information.
  • You’re the person identified by the first name (and, if you provide them, last name and postcode) you’ve submitted.

You can submit a comment without an email address. If you choose to opt in to future notifications after submitting, we treat that email address according to our privacy policy.

How we moderate

Every comment is reviewed by a human before it appears publicly. Our published moderation SLA is 48 hours from submission to first review. Comments that are pending or rejected are never shown publicly — not on the comment wall, not on the home-page scroller, not in any counter.

We can approve, reject, or edit any comment at our discretion. Reasons we may reject or edit a comment include — but aren’t limited to — the criteria above (defamatory, unlawful, harassing, etc.), as well as content that’s off-topic, spam, or that misrepresents another person.

When we publish an approved comment, we show your first name, your postcode (if you supplied one), and your comment. We don’t show last names or email addresses publicly.

Asking us to remove content

If you’d like a comment removed — whether it’s your own or someone else’s — email takedown@donttaxourfuture.au. Our published takedown SLA:

  • Acknowledge the request within 48 hours.
  • Action or formally decline (with a reason) within 7 days.

Not every takedown request will be actioned — sometimes we’ll decline. When we do, we’ll explain why.

Information on this site

The information about the proposed CGT changes is provided in good faith for general public information. We cite primary sources (budget papers, Treasury explainers, Hansard, official transcripts) wherever we make a factual claim. We do our best to keep these accurate and up to date, but we don’t guarantee the site or its links will always be available.

Nothing on this site is legal, financial, or tax advice. If you’re making decisions that depend on how the proposed changes might affect you, speak to a qualified adviser.

Changes to these terms

We’ll update this page when these terms change. The “Last updated” date at the top tracks the most recent revision. We don’t separately notify visitors about changes — if a change is material, we’ll publish a short note at the top of this page describing what changed.
